Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Rhino is a one year old 85 lb neutered male German Shepherd mix! Rhino is a very sweet boy! People and dog friendly definitely! We still have to cat test him to see if he is cat friendly! He lived with another female dog. They were great together. Originally from SC and had to go to a kill shelter due to the owner going to jail! We were asked to save both dogs and we pulled them and transported them to our rescue! The other dog was recently adopted so he needs a home. He is well behaved and loved at our rescue shelter! He deserves a loving home! He is Heartworm negative, microchipped and fully vaccinated! If you are interested in meeting or adopting Rhino please text Casey at 570-441-0083. We adopt to the general public but we also adopt to military veterans with adoption fee waived in order to provide our heroes with companion or emotional support dogs . Our other adoptable pets our posted on our website as well as the very brief (5 minutes) application form. rescuepetsservingvets

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
