Dog Breed: Shih Tzu (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 450. Sweet little Maddy is a 1.5 year old Shih Tzu with mesmerizing eyes that shine with love for her people! One look from this little cuddle muffin and you'll fall in love with all 13 pounds of her. Maddy is all about people and wants to be your shadow by you all the time. She is a bit on the timid side at first but once she gets to know you she opens up like the precious little doll she is. We are requiring another resident dog in the home, around her size, since it does help her with confidence. Maddy is lucky in that she has always known and been given love in her previous home. Sadly her owner passed away but she is now ready to love and bond with another wonderful family. She loves all people and dogs, has lived with older children that go slow with her, and loves to be pampered on a snuggly lap. Miss Maddy is crate trained and mostly potty trained. She would love a home that she could be outside for light play in nice weather and prance along for walks with her people. So if you're looking for a dog that enjoys lap time but is still ready for some play....here is your precious little one just waiting for her new family! They must all be trained with positive reward based training only and no electric fences. All Haven's pets are all up to date with vaccinations, altered, microchipped, HeartWorm tested, and on preventatives. PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: havenanimalrescuenebraska/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you. Thank you for choosing adoption!!

The Shih Tzu, affectionately known as the "lion dog," boasts an ancient and regal lineage, originating from the Tibetan plateau and further refined in imperial China. These charming canines are easily recognized by their striking appearance: a small, sturdy build, a distinctive undershot jaw, and a long, flowing double coat that often requires regular grooming to prevent matting. Temperamentally, Shih Tzus are renowned for being affectionate, outgoing, and playful companions, making them wonderfully suitable for a variety of households.
