Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Every once in a while, a dog comes along who feels like home. Meet Papas. At just 1 year old and 60 lbs, this handsome pittie mix has already mastered the art of stealing hearts. He may very well have invented the puppy-dog eyes â and yes, he absolutely knows how to use them. Papas is the total package: playful, affectionate, social, and incredibly sweet. He loves other dogs and greets every potential playmate like a long-lost friend. In fact, heâs helped some of our more selective shelter dogs come out of their shells and learn to play. In his foster home, he thrived as a constant companion to the resident dog, proving heâs happiest with a buddy by his side. Heâll happily romp around the yard, play fetch (yes, he brings it back!), and when the fun winds down, heâs ready to snuggle up close with his people. Heâs also a smart cookie. Papas picked up household routines quickly in foster care. Heâs 99% potty trained, walks nicely on leash, and charms everyone he meets. For a young pup, heâs impressively mellow and eager to please. Like any young dog, Papas is still learning the ropes. If he doesnât get enough exercise or enrichment, he might sneak a shoe for a chew session. Heâs working on keeping all four paws on the floor when heâs excited and can be gently mouthy during play. With continued structure, activity, and positive guidance, heâs going to shine. Because of his enthusiasm and play style, he may do best in a home with older children. Papas isnât looking for perfect â heâs just looking for his people. A family to play with, relax with, and love with his whole big heart. If youâre ready for a loyal sidekick, a playmate, a cuddle buddy, and your biggest fan, Papas is ready for you. Come meet him â those puppy-dog eyes are even more convincing in person.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
