Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Maltese / Mixed. Cannoli is a fuzzy little Chihuahua mix (mix unknown), currently just about 3 pounds and almost 8 weeks old. He’s a spunky little guy and a true ankle biter — lol. We are requesting a home with another younger small dog (no seniors). He annoys his foster’s 11-year-old Chihuahua but plays wonderfully with the 1-1/2 year-old Frenchie, so he definitely enjoys an active canine buddy his size. Because of his age, he would do best in a home where someone is home most of the day or works from home. No small children due to his tiny size and the fact that he is currently in his “baby shark” stage. Teenagers or older would be a better fit. Breed overview
Overview:
The Malchi is an adorable designer breed, a delightful cross between the Chihuahua and the Maltese. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of both parent breeds, the Malchi typically inherits a small, compact size, generally weighing between 5-12 pounds. Their coats can vary, ranging from the long, silky hair of the Maltese to the shorter, smoother coat of the Chihuahua, often coming in shades of white, cream, black, or tan. Temperament-wise, Malchis are known for being affectionate, lively, and intelligent, making them wonderful companion dogs. They adapt well to apartment living due to their small stature and moderate exercise needs, and with proper socialization, can be suitable for families with older children. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of common small-breed health issues like dental problems, patellar luxation, and hypoglycemia, necessitating regular vet check-ups. Overall, the Malchi is a charming, devoted little dog perfect for those seeking a loving lap companion.
