Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (long coat). Legacy is a female perfectly marked, long haired chocolate and white female Chihuahua born on December 31, 2025. The word “adorable" doesn’t do justice. Legacy is full of life, energy, love and playfulness. We took her sweet Mom in for the owner and our experienced foster helped whelp the puppies. After weaning, Mom will be spayed and returned to owner; it’s a responsible way to handle the situation and we are thrilled to be asked to assist in finding great homes for puppies, and spaying and returning Mom. Legacy has only known the best care and has had her start in a loving environment. She has started vaccinations, deworming and proper vet care. Adoption fee $450. This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to: rutherfordcountyhumanesociety/dog-adoption-application/ We are located in Western North Carolina. Optional transport is weekly. After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery if you so desire.

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
