Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Jace is a 12-week-old Shepherd mix with a big personality packed into his 10-pound body. He’s incredibly sweet, smart, and picked up the doggie door right away like a total pro. He’s already learning to sit politely for treats and meals, and he absolutely loves playing with the resident dogs. This boy has classic puppy energy — zoomies through the house (sometimes with a toy… sometimes with a shoe), bouncing wildly in fresh snow, and then crashing hard on the biggest dog bed he can find. He’d happily chew on your shoes all day if given the chance, but he’s learning that frozen lick mats and treat balls are way more acceptable options. He’s playful and will bark during playtime, and he may whine briefly when left alone, but he settles. Jace is still working on potty training and improving every day. He’s not crate trained yet but does well being contained and would likely adjust quickly to a cozy crate setup. He’s good with other dogs and with kids, though he’s in that typical “bitey” puppy stage, so supervision with younger kiddos is important. He hasn’t lived with cats, but as a young puppy, he should be able to learn with proper introductions. Jace will thrive in a home ready to give him both mental and physical exercise — plus lots of love, patience, and maybe a few extra shoe racks. Overview:

The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
