Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Loki came to us from Pickens County, SC with 2 of his brothers. He was born around 11/13/25 and already weighs over 20 pounds, so he will likely be big boy when fully grown. Loki has been thriving in his foster home, and enjoys playing with his dog & cat siblings (though he is still learning proper manners toward cats). His foster reports that he is super sweet, and doing great with training. He is very treat-motivated, and is already learning to "sit" and "leave it". He’s also making great progress with potty training, with only occasional accidents as he continues to learn. While the crate isn’t his favorite place, he goes in without a fuss and settles fairly quickly. Loki is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed and started on monthly flea/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $350 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
