Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Currently located at our Owensboro, KY location Meet Roxy This sweet Pit Bull Terrier mix has had a tough journey. Roxy first came to us as a stray back in March and was reclaimed by her former owners—unfortunately, they were more interested in using her for profit than giving her the love she deserved. In July, Roxy found herself abandoned again… but this time, she’s here with us until she finds the forever family she’s always deserved. One that will cherish her as a beloved companion, not a breeding dog. Roxy has previously lived with another dog (her sister Rogue, who’s already been adopted), so she may do well with other pups after a meet-and-greet. She’s also said to be good with kids. Her compatibility with cats is still unknown. Roxy is more than ready to start her new chapter—a life filled with love, snuggles, and the joy of finally being home. Could you be her happy ending? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
