Foster location: Appleton Application & Website: .ourpackanimalrescue/adoption.html Bio: In August 2024, Hudson joined Our Pack after he was confiscated by police as part of a case in Chicago. Covered in scabs, and very skinny he clearly had a rougher start to life. Hudson had a home here for a while, but it was determined that his very strong breed traits was not a safe or comfortable fit for the home anymore. We agreed that it's in his best interest we find a experienced home, in a better setting to continue and help him live a happy life. Tibetan Mastiffs are distinctly known for being protective guardians, stubborn, loyal, and strong. Seeing "fluffy dog" does not instantly mean great family member. Hudson will absolutely need to go to a experienced home, who knows how guardian dogs work. No small animals, no small kids, will not love strangers in his space so kenneling is recommended, especially around men, and those nor comfortable with his initial demeanor. Hudson does do great playing and being around other dogs, medium/large ideal. He kennels really well, and did great at the groomer for his prior home. He loves the snow, patrolling the yard, protecting his home. He is NOT a snuggler. Again, not a teddy bear. Our Pack Animal Rescue, Inc. Is an all foster based 501c3 rescue. License #487823. Meet and greets are arranged after an application has been approved. An approved application does not mean you must adopt the dog of interest, if it isn't a good fit.

Overview:
The Tibetan Mastiff is an ancient and impressive breed, originating from the Himalayan mountains where they served as formidable guardians of livestock and homes. Physically, they are magnificent canines, characterized by their large, muscular build, thick double coat (often black, brown, blue, or gold), and a distinctive mane around their neck. Temperamentally, they are known for their independent, protective, and reserved nature. While deeply loyal to their families, they can be aloof with strangers and possess a strong guarding instinct. Due to their size, need for space, and strong-willed personality, they are generally not recommended for apartment living and are best suited for experienced owners who can provide consistent training and socialization. They can be wonderful family companions for those who understand their needs, but their protective nature means constant supervision around unfamiliar children is crucial. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as certain thyroid conditions, making responsible breeding and veterinary care important.
