Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Pomeranian / Mixed (long coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Online Adoption Application › Zara is a estimated 6 year old Pomeranian. She was rescued from a huge puppy mill bust in TN with over 100 dogs on the property. Zara takes time to warm up and prefers female over males initially. She is overall a pocket full of sunshine and happy to be around you in whatever is happening. She does startle easily and takes time to gain a modicum of confidence in a a new space. She loves words of praise and sweet talk and well as food. Zara is a tripod, she had to get her leg amputated as when she was rescued it was discovered that her knee was injured for so long that the muscles and ligaments had contracted and wouldn't be usable even if the knee was fixed. This has not stopped her as she was essentially a tripod previously and adapted well to the now pain free three legged gait. Zara does have minimal teeth due to the severe dental disease she suffered with, this doesn't stop her in eating whatever she desires but softer treats and wet food is preferred for her. She is fairly confident on leash walks and her foster would recommend leash walks for potty breaks for the initial weeks to help her gain confidence with you and her new surroundings. Zara is not a fan of rain but will bear it if you are also out with her in solidarity for those potty breaks. Zara is still gaining confidence on being picked up and for those initial pets, she is non reactive but will get extremely stiff and hyperventilate when overwhelmed so all things are low and slow for this lady. Zara is much more confident with dogs than people and would do best with a dog buddy to help follow along and learn the new home ropes with. She doesn't like to be pushed around by other dogs and has no problem telling them to respect her space. Zara LOVES toys especially a benebone or something that crinkles. *************************************************** The adoption fee is $400, which covers vetting, microchip and the spay/neuter surgery performed by a rescue-affiliated vet. All dogs receive a wellness visit and are up to date on shots appropriate for age. Breed and size is Pawfect Match Rescue's best guess and not guaranteed. More About Chiranian BreedOverview:
The Chiranian, also affectionately known as a "Pomchi," is a charming hybrid breed resulting from the cross between a Chihuahua and a Pomeranian. Originating from designer breed efforts to combine the desirable traits of both parents, this small companion dog typically inherits a compact size, usually weighing between 4-10 pounds. Their physical appearance can vary, often featuring the long, soft coat of a Pomeranian in various colors, coupled with the alert, expressive eyes of a Chihuahua. Temperamentally, Chiranians are generally affectionate, lively, and intelligent, though they can exhibit a "big dog" personality in a small package, sometimes prone to being vocal. They are highly adaptable, making them an excellent choice for apartment living and can be suitable for families with older, respectful children. Health-wise, like many small breeds, they can be prone to dental issues, luxating patellas, and tracheal collapse, making regular veterinary check-ups essential for a long, happy life.
