Description

Dog Breed: Poodle (Miniature) (long coat). Adoption Fee: $699. Looking for your next furry BFF? We don’t have perfect dogs — but we do have dogs who are perfect for the right someone. Our goal is to match each dog with the home that fits them best and each home with the dog that will sing to your heart. Ready to adopt? Complete an application at Application – Carolina Poodle Rescue Date into Rescue:2/3/2026 Reason for being in rescue: Stetson was part of a large group of dogs that are abandoned at a shelter in Maryland. Carolina Poodle Rescue partnered with the shelter and other rescues to get the dogs into rescue. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Stetson is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 2/11/26 he had a dental polishing. Stetson was abandoned outside a shelter. We have no information on his life pre-rescue. Weight: 25 lbs Height: 18 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $699 Fence needed? Yes, Stetson requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Stetson is a young adult dog who can fit into so many different homes. Our first priority is a home with another young, playful dog. Stetson is happiest with a canine companion. If you don't have another dog, there needs to be a plan for regular play dates - a minimum of 4 times per week for at least 1 hour each time. We do not know if Stetson has ever lived with children. We do know that he's still figuring out what being a pet is all about so needs patience and experienced hands. Stetson is active. He needs a home committed to lots of physical and mental exercise daily. What is my personality like? Stetson is a truly wonderful, sweet-natured boy with a loving heart and a playful spirit. He enjoys attention from both people and other dogs and is happiest when he’s part of the action, especially if it involves running around outside and enjoying some fresh air. Playtime is one of his favorite things, and he brings a joyful energy wherever he goes. Stetson is a very smart dog, eager to learn and connect, but he can be a bit timid when first meeting new people or entering new environments. Stetson just needs a little time to feel safe. Once he does, his affectionate and fun personality really shines. He warms up much more quickly when another dog is around, and we truly believe he would do best in a home with a canine companion. He thrives in the presence of other dogs and absolutely LOVES to play with them. Stetson will benefit from continued work on basic house manners and leash training as he settles into his new home. With consistency and positive guidance, he has all the tools to succeed. He is crate trained and keeps his crate clean most of the time, showing that he understands structure and routine. How do I act when I first meet new people? Stetson can be a bit timid when meeting new people or entering new environments. Once he is comfortable, his playful personality shines. Other tips and tidbits: We have no history on Stetson pre-rescue. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 18 months old. We celebrate his birthday 07/30/2024 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive — and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Overview:

The Miniature Poodle, a charming and intelligent companion, originated in Germany as a water retriever before being refined in France. They are renowned for their elegant appearance, characterized by a distinctive curly coat (often requiring regular grooming to prevent matting), long muzzle, and expressive dark eyes. Standing typically between 10 to 15 inches tall and weighing 10 to 15 pounds, they are a compact yet sturdy breed. Temperamentally, Miniature Poodles are known for their high intelligence, making them highly trainable and eager to please. They are generally lively, affectionate, and can be quite playful, thriving on interaction with their families. Their adaptable nature makes them well-suited for apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. They are often excellent with children and other pets when properly socialized. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of breed-specific concerns such as progressive retinal atrophy, luxating patella, and Addison's disease. With their captivating looks and bright minds, the Miniature Poodle makes a delightful and devoted family member.
