Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 200.00. Ricky (AKA: Ricky Bobby, Ricky Ricardo, Richard) is a silly, quiet, and respectful little man who loves everyone and everything (including cats). You won’t be able to hold back a smile from his expressive eyes and underbite, to his crooked tail. Although he’s still learning how to play with toys, his favorite things in life are hugs, his crate, getting mani/pedi’s, flipping over for belly rubs, road-trips, and FOOD. He also enjoys outside activities like kayaking and hiking! He already knows sit, stay, go to bed, spin and has excellent recall. He is a 5 year old, 50 lb. low-rider American Bully with a velvety merle coat and a personality that defies explanation. Is he a land hippo? A sweater wearing seal? A very serious couch potato disguised as an athlete? Either way, we are completely obsessed with him. One thing we do know, Ricky has a face that will make you feel guilty if you’re not spending time with him 24/7. He will match your lifestyle whether that be high energy or easy-going. Ricky is neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, and will come with supplies. Submit an adoption application if you think Ricky sounds like he’s the perfect fit!

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
