Description
Dog Breed: Corgi. Thank Dog it’s the weekend! Mango is a 5–6 year old corgi mix with stumpy legs, an adorable tail, and a personality that fills the whole room. He weighs about 32 pounds, is neutered, chipped, and UTD on all vaccinations. He was surrendered to CCFR due to being reactive around children. He is incredibly affectionate and is happiest when he’s right by his person’s side. Mango loves adults and does best with mature children ages 12 and up who understand and respect his space. This handsome guy is smart, eager, and a very fast learner. He loves treats (all treats!) and is highly treat-motivated, which makes him a fantastic training partner. He enjoys learning new things and truly thrives with daily mental stimulation along with his daily walks. Hiking? Yes, please. Car rides? He travels great. Adventures with his favorite human? Absolutely. Mango is currently working with a trainer and is doing very well. With his foster mom, he successfully navigates situations around other dogs, including hiking trails and even going into stores. That said, Mango can be reactive to dogs, so his adopter will need to continue working with a trainer to help him live his very best life. He would do best as an only dog so he can be the center of attention (his favorite place to be!), though he has previously lived successfully with another small dog. Careful introductions would be essential. A cat-free home would be best for Mango, or a home with very dog-savvy cats who are confident and comfortable around dogs. He is potty trained, can use a dog door, and does well with a consistent schedule—especially when settling into a new home. Mango will need a fenced yard and would likely thrive in a quiet neighborhood or more rural setting. He does like to announce himself when he heads outside, so he can be a bit of a barker. Looking for a buddy to try a dog sport like nose work? Mango’s sharp mind, love of treats, and eagerness to learn could make him a wonderful partner for fun training adventures! Mango is looking for a committed, dog-savvy home that will continue to guide him, keep his mind busy, and give him the love he adores. The first step is to complete our meet and greet application at .corgisandfriends/forms We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. His adoption fee is $400. We do not adopt out of state.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
