Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Terrier (short coat). Bailey is a gorgeous chocolate-colored girl with the most beautiful golden eyes. She was found as a stray in Irving, TX, near a high school. Although she was chipped, contacting her owner by email and text yielded no response, so it is believed she was abandoned by her former owner(s). Bailey is about 2 years old and petite at only 22 pounds. Bailey is truly one of the best I’ve cared for in 14 years of fostering. She knows “sit” and she will go by the door and wait when she needs a potty break. She is calm in the house and incredibly well behaved. She never jumped up on the furniture until I invited her up for picture-taking Bailey sleeps quietly all night in her crate. She is friendly and playful with all dogs, big and small. It is also our understanding that she co-existed well with cats. Bailey is truly an amazing girl you can’t help but fall in love with. If you'd like to give Bailey a new home and family, complete an adoption application and ask for SUEANN'S BAILEY TX!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
