Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Russell the wilderness explorer Meet Russell, our very own "pux" bottle baby who is ready to earn his merit badges in your heart! This little explorer was found at the Fresno Animal Center and has been growing big and strong in foster care ever since. As a Shepherd mix, Russell is expected to be a large (X-Large) companion once he’s fully grown, making him the perfect partner for all your future "wilderness" expeditions. The Scout Report: Personality: Being a former bottle baby, Russell has a special bond with humans. He’s curious, brave, and loves to play. Social Life: He is a friend to all! He currently gets along great with dogs, cats, and kids. Health: He is up-to-date on his puppy shots. He is currently not yet neutered due to his age, so a PREadoption contract will be required. "The wilderness must be explored!" Russell is looking for a "Wilderness Explorer" leader who can provide him with the training, exercise, and love a young Shepherd needs. Is that you? All dogs/puppies will be spayed/neutered unless spay/neuter contract is signed with additional deposit. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
