Despite her double FHO surgery, she hasn't lost her zest. She went to foster to heal and here's what the foster family told us about her: Charlotte is such a sweetie! She got along great with our two small dogs and when meeting other dogs, she just wanted to play with them. (We worked on her being less mouthy during dog playtime.) She knows "fetch" and "leave it". We walked her a lot due to her surgery. She enjoys walks and was comfortable with up to 30-45 minute walks. We did have to watch her closely on walks because she likes to put everything into her mouth! Charlotte loves squeeky toys, meeting people and is crate and house trained. Overall, she's a lovely dog and will make a great addition to her new home. Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
