Maxine and Lucas are an adorable brother-and-sister duo with the cutest black-and-white spots everywhere you look. These young puppies are full of life, love, and curiosity — and they’re ready to bring all the joy to their forever home! Both pups are wonderfully adventurous. They love romping in the snow, chasing each other through the yard, and stretching out to soak up the sunshine. Everything is a new discovery, and they’re always excited to explore the world around them! Maxine is the cuddler of the pair. She’ll wiggle her way as close to you as possible, happiest when she’s snuggled up and soaking in all the affection she can get. Lucas, on the other hand, is the little trailblazer. He’s eager to pave the way toward new sights and smells, confidently checking things out — but don’t worry, he always circles back for cuddles once he’s satisfied his curiosity. They’re hold the perfect balance of playful energy and sweet affection. If you’re looking for loving, happy, spotty sidekicks who will fill your days with laughter and your evenings with snuggles, Maxine and Lucas are ready to steal your heart. These pups can be adopted separately! The Rescue is open 7 days a week for you to come and meet our pets! Walk-ins are welcome! All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
