Description

Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Hi. It’s me. Benni. Two years old. Fourteen pounds of emotional support excellence. I currently live with five other dogs and two cats, so you could say I’m well-socialized. I love playing with the smaller dogs — the under-30-lb crew is my vibe. The big dogs? I respect them… but I’m still a bit too nervous to play with them. I haven’t met any kids, but since I’m a tiny guy, kids 8 and older would probably be more my style. I’m working hard on my potty training and just unlocked a major life achievement: I figured out the dog door. Honestly, I feel like that deserves applause. Now let’s discuss my strengths: • Elite-level snuggler • Professional bed warmer • Toy enthusiast • Sweet, happy, slightly shy gentleman I’m not a huge fan of my crate (who is, really?), but I’ll sleep there if I must. However, my preferred sleeping arrangement is directly next to you. Or on you. Ideally under the covers. For security purposes. I can be a little shy when we first meet — new situations make me pause for a second — but give me a minute and I’ll be leaning into you like we’ve known each other forever. If you’re looking for a small, loving, playful little cutie who will happily be your shadow, your couch buddy, and your nighttime snuggle partner… I think we should meet. Overview:

The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
