Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (medium coat). Sadie is a sweet senior girl whoâs truly come into her own in foster care after arriving as a stray. Sheâs an easy, low-maintenance companionâfully housetrained, great in the car, and perfectly content to sleep in and relax by your side. Sadie enjoys being near her person, quietly following along and settling close by, and she handles alone time well without any signs of separation anxiety. Sheâs also gentle when taking treats and has a calm, steady presence that makes her a wonderful housemate. Sadie would do best in a home without cats or small critters, as she does enjoy chasing them, and sheâll need some awareness around moving vehicles as she has shown curiosity toward tires. In playgroup, sheâs social and politeâhappy to greet other dogs and coexist, often doing her own thing. She may be a bit hard of hearing, but it doesnât slow her downâin fact, it helps her stay relaxed during storms. For someone looking for a laid-back, loyal companion with just the right mix of independence and affection, Sadie could be a perfect match.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
