Description
Dog Breed: Pointer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed. A SWEET PEOPLE DOG: Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 46 lbs. Hi, my name is Sylvie! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and boy am I glad they were able to bring me into the Mostly Mutts family! I definitely needed their loving care, as I am heartworm positive. I'll be treated for that soon and hope to be with my new family before my treatment starts. It’s also evident that I have had puppies in the past, but those days are now behind me too, thanks to Mostly Mutts. I’m ready to start the good life with my new family! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I recently met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and we got along – though I did not initiate play with them. I seem to prefer the company of people more, so if you have a nice doggie at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: The volunteers say I am ‘a very good girl’, and I bet you will agree! I’m friendly and super sweet, and I really, really love people. I might seem a little shy at first, but once I know you’re kind, I just want to be close and snuggle. I’m calm and gentle, but I’m also a strong girl. I sit very nicely for treats - I try so hard to do everything right. The shelter bath was scary for me, especially the sprayer, but I did my best. The shampoo and scrub seemed a lot like cuddling, so that was fine. The rinsing part with the spray was harder, and I felt really brave to get through it. Afterward, I gave kisses because I love people. Though I’m nervous sometimes, I’m also full of love and ready to make you smile! / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’ command. I look forward to learning more! Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I've been having some accidents on the shelter schedule, so please keep me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I’m not super interested in toys yet, but I sure do love people, so I bet you can show me how much fun toys can be. Treats are great, and I do a wonderful ‘sit’ for those. A fun-loving and social girl, I’m sure we will find lots of fun things to do as we make great memories together as a family! / I may need extra time to adjust to new situations, and – other than those pesky baths, like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. Since I wasn't kept on heartworm prevention in my previous home, I'm HW positive. The good news is that I'll be treated for that in April and Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of that treatment with their vet, so local adoption please. I hope to be with my family before treatment starts! I am looking for a loving home with a great furever family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Lab-Pointer, a charming crossbreed of the Labrador Retriever and Pointer, originated from the desire to combine the best qualities of both parent breeds. Physically, they are typically medium to large dogs, showcasing a athletic build, often with a short, dense coat in various colors like black, yellow, chocolate, or liver, and sometimes the distinctive Pointer markings. Their temperament is generally a delightful blend: intelligent, loyal, and eager to please like the Lab, combined with the Pointer's alert and energetic nature. This makes them highly trainable, though they do require consistent exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom. While affectionate and good with children, their energy levels mean they are best suited for active families with a yard, rather than small apartments. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns inherited from either parent, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions, and certain cancers, making responsible breeding and regular vet check-ups crucial for their well-being.
