Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). This handsome fella is Gunner. He was a stray before being found and finding himself in a rural pound where he spent months waiting for someone to notice him. He is now in a foster home and figuring out how to be a dog, realizing that he will have food every day and how nice it feels to sleep on comfy couches instead of a concrete floor. He is very playful with other dogs, cats dont phase him and he just sniffs them and moves on, and he loves kids, although he is still learning manners and can be a little jumpy when he gets excited. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and prefers to do his business outside. He would love to find a home with a playful furry friend and with a family that can help him continue to learn and be the best dog he can be. He will be available 3/11.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
