Description
Dog Breed: Jack Russell Terrier. 7MonthOld Shortie Jack Russell Terriers Spuds is 12 lbs and considered a Broken Coat ( Wired and Short Hair ) Shortie Jack. These adorable 7monthold Shortie Jack Russell Terriers are ready for their new beginning. Shorties are the compact, lowrider version of the classic Jack Russell — smart, affectionate, sturdy, and full of personality without the high-octane intensity of the taller lines. The breeder docked their tails. In the breeding world, puppies are expected to sell quickly, usually between 8 and 12 weeks. Once they pass the 3month mark, the demand drops sharply, and the profit margin disappears for breeders. Older puppies cost more to feed, vaccinate, and house, and many breeders simply can’t justify keeping them long-term. Therefore, they are transferred to rescues. Now that they’re in rescue, they’re blossoming. Shorties are softnatured, peopleoriented, gentle little terriers. They’re affectionate, submissive, easy to handle, and some say much calmer than standard JRTs. They bond fast, stay close, and thrive on routine and reassurance. **Our Adoption Process:** To begin the adoption process, please fill out an application on our website. If your application appears to be a good fit, we will request the following: 1. Photos of your yard 2. Veterinary records for any previous or current dogs Depending on your location, a home visit may also be conducted. Please note that we do not offer separate meet-and-greets for puppies. When you schedule an appointment, that visit will serve as both your meet-and-greet and your adoption day. If you decide not to adopt after meeting the puppy, your deposit will be refunded. Adopters must use a puppy playpen, which provides a safe, contained space with room to move and reduces stress. We will share recommended options once your application is approved. Overview:
The Jack Russell Terrier is a small, energetic dog breed originating from England in the mid-1800s, specifically bred by Reverend John Russell for fox hunting. These compact canines are easily recognized by their sturdy, muscular build, typically weighing between 13-17 pounds, with a height of 10-15 inches at the shoulder. Their coats can be smooth, broken, or rough, predominantly white with black, tan, or tricolor markings. Known for their spirited and confident temperament, Jack Russells are highly intelligent but can also be quite stubborn, requiring consistent training and ample mental stimulation. While devoted to their families, their high energy levels and strong prey drive make them better suited for active households with secure outdoor spaces rather than small apartments. They can thrive with children if properly socialized, though supervision is always advised due to their boisterous play. Generally healthy, they can be prone to certain genetic conditions such as patellar luxation, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, and some eye disorders, making responsible breeding crucial.
