Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). **Abbi was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training. She will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. She will be crate trained, house trained, learn manners and she will learn lots of tricks as well! Abbi will be looking for a forever home before she graduates in April, so if you are interested in meeting her, please contact us. Read more about her below… Abbi is the sweetest little thing. She showed up as a stray and was never claimed. We think she is a terrier mix, just not sure what she is mixed with. She's okay with cats, chickens and other dogs too. She has not been around kids, but would do fine. She has been both indoors and outdoors and just loves people! Abbi has puppy energy and will run and play, but she also enjoys quiet time curled up in a warm lap. Can she come cuddle up with you? Abbi is almost 6 months old and weighs 25lbs...won't get much bigger. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
