Sweet Skye Skye is a sweet, gentle, low-to-moderate energy Heeler who thrives on closeness and security. Her energy level is best described as 4 out of 10. Skye loves to cuddle, sleep on the bed and be near her person. She is housebroken, walks beautifully on a leash, and does best in a harness, which she already uses successfully. Skye enjoys car rides, is unaffected by storms, sirens, or loud noises, and does well with routine. Skye does well with other dogs and currently lives successfully with another cattle dog. A calm, confident male canine companion could be a plus in the right home. Skye occasionally struggles with anxiety in new situations. Skye has NOT shown food aggression or resource guarding, but due to lack of socialization on our part, (original owners) she can become overwhelmed in new situations. Skye will become more confident with the right person or family. We know that because she is still so young she would thrive and be much happier in a different environment. Skye does very well on quiet walking paths. With decompression time we firmly believe more experienced owners will help her come out of her shell and enjoy doing more fun activities. Skye would thrive in a home that offers Herding-breed experienced adults. Older children, 12+ may be ok. We’d like a home for Skye where someone is home during the day; She’s very motivated by being with her people. We also think that she would do great with a confident, male companion dog. If you think that little Skye could be a good fit and great addition to your family please complete our application on the website below and then: TEXT SARA: 214-549-9905 .dashdog General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $450 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
