Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua. Cashew is a little guy with a unique personality, and we’re still getting to know him as he settles into foster care. Here’s what his fosters have learned about him so far. Cashew is crate trained and currently working on his potty training. He enjoys going for walks, relaxing in the sun, and snuggling up when he’s feeling comfortable. One of his favorite things is wearing cozy sweaters to stay warm, and he also loves going for car rides. When it comes to food, Cashew can be a bit particular — he’s not very food motivated unless it’s something high value, but he definitely gets excited for dinner time. Cashew can be selective about his dog friends but does get along well with some other dogs. He does not do well with children and will need an adult-only home where he can feel safe and relaxed. Cashew also seems to prefer women and would do best in a quiet home with a female adopter who can give him the calm environment he thrives in. With patience and understanding, Cashew will make a wonderful companion for the right person. If you’re looking for a quiet little buddy to join you for walks, car rides, and cozy afternoons in the sun, Cashew might just be your guy. Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
