Description
Dog Breed: Great Dane. DOB: 2/1/2023 Weight: 104 lbs Stay tuned for more photos Blue was purchased from a breeder in 2023 and is being surrendered by his family due to him not getting along with the cats in the home. He is house and crate trained, knows basic commands such as sit and stay and does well with children. He would do best in a home that can provide him lots of exercise, as he's very high energy. Blue is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. He loves toys, and rides well in the car and is affectionate. Blue walk ok on his leash but could use more work. His adoption fee is $275 and you can apply to adopt him here: Adoption Application - Legacy Humane Society 02/01/2023 We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at legacyhumanesociety/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.

Breed overview
Great Dane
A.K.A.: German Mastiff, Deutsche Dogge, Dänische Dogge, Tigerdogge, Ulmer Dogge, Englische Dogge, Grand Danois, Dogue Allemand, Great German Dog, Apollo of Dogs, King of Hounds, Gentle Giant, Dane
Overview:
The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
