Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed (short coat). Hi! I'm Pepper. I am a cattle dog mix puppy with a big personality and even bigger energy. My favorite thing in the world is to run and play, and I’m also one of the smartest puppies you will ever meet. When I see people I love, my excitement can literally send me into backflips! I am kennel trained, potty trained, and walk nicely on leash. I do great with kids who understand I am still a puppy ~ sometimes I jump or play with my mouth because I get so excited. I am looking for an active family that loves the outdoors and can keep up with my energy. If you have other dogs, they will need to be comfortable with a fun, energetic playmate. I do love to chase cats and chickens, but I'm not mean ~ I just need continued guidance and supervision around them until I learn they're not meant to be playmates. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
