Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Meet Dr. Yang, one of our sweet girls from the Grey’s Anatomy Litter! At just about 7 weeks old, this adorable pitbull mix is already stealing hearts. She was found abandoned on the side of the road in a basket with her siblings, but thankfully she is now safe, warm, and thriving in her foster home. We aren’t sure who her mom and dad are, so we can’t say exactly how big she’ll get — but we believe she will be at least 50 lbs once fully grown. She’s still a baby, which means she will need lots of socialization, training, patience, love, and consistency to help her grow into the best version of herself. She is not yet potty or crate trained but is beginning to learn. If you’re ready for puppy kisses, playful energy, and a lifelong best friend, she may be your perfect match. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
