Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Meet Dr. Shepard one of our handsome boys from the Grey’s Anatomy Litter! At around 7 weeks old, this pitbull mix is full of puppy curiosity and charm. He and his siblings were found roaming alone in a basket on the side of the road, and while we don’t know much about their past, we do know their future is bright. Now safe in his foster home, he is soaking up love and care while searching for his forever family. Because we don’t know who his parents are, we can’t guarantee his adult size, but we believe he will be at least 50 lbs. He is still very much a puppy — which means he will need continued socialization, training, patience, and lots of love to grow into a well-rounded adult dog. He is not potty or crate trained yet but is working on it every day. If you’re ready to commit to the puppy stage and all the joy (and work!) that comes with it, he’s ready to meet you. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
