Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). #A5752957 Meet Fordster, a 5-year-old grey pittie and the sleekest little couch hippo you’ll ever see! With his beautiful two-tone grey coat, velvety-soft bouncy ears begging for scritches, and perfectly pocket-sized build (on the smaller end for his breed!), he’s basically compact perfection. Like most couch hippos, Fordster is more than happy to curl up beside you for movie night - but he also loves to zoom around the yard, romp through the living room, or tag along on hikes and outdoor adventures. In a sea of pitties at the shelter, his sweet, playful personality truly stands out from the crowd. He was sadly owner surrendered due to landlord issues - no fault of his own - and he’s so ready for a fresh start. If you love pitties, Fordster is absolutely your guy! - 5 year old grey pitbull - 48 pound male - no medical notes, so Fordster may need the standard round of shots and preventatives before you can take him home, as well as a neuter - but the shelter can likely help with this! Just to be safe, he may need to be adopted on a health waiver - adopter to follow up with own vet for further diagnostics and potential treatment - came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 1/30/26 as an owner surrender - his previous family had landlord issues and was not allowed to keep him - perfect pocket size pity for lovers of the breed! - equal parts chill and playful, and ready to velcro to you like the big lover boy he is - come check out this cutie yourself, you won’t regret it! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
