Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Currently located at our Owensboro, KY location. Meet Jasper Jasper is a handsome black and white pitty mix born in January 2025 who has grown up in the rescue and is still waiting for the life every dog deserves. Calm, gentle, and incredibly well-mannered, he walks quietly on a leash with no pulling and no jumping, just patiently hoping someone will notice him. Jasper loads up in the car like a pro and enjoys going for rides, and he’s friendly with other dogs and does well with both cats and kids, making him a great fit for a multi-pet household. He has a big appetite and an even bigger heart, though he may occasionally try to sneak off with a shoe for a chew session. Despite all his wonderful qualities, what Jasper wants most is something he has never had before: a family of his own. Someone to finally choose him and show him love beyond kennel walls. Interested in fostering or adopting? Apply at ITVrescue. All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated if necessary.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
