Foster Home Feedback 03/05/2026 Foster Feedback: Treasure went to her first adoption event last night and let me tell you she nailed it!! Treasure was a little scared at first going in but once she realized that she was going to get all the love and pets she wanted she was the star of the show. She met so many new people and loved every minute of it. Treasure rode in an elevator like she had been doing it her entire life. She loved seeing all the new people and things. If you are looking for a dog you can bring with you anywhere Treasure is your girl. 02/26/2026 Foster Feedback: Treasure who, we are calling Penny, has been with us for a little less than a week and she has already stolen our hearts. She is pretty much the perfect pittie package. Treasure is potty trained, kennel trained, dog friendly, walks well on a leash and has lived with cats. She has shown no signs of any resource guarding with anything. She has not chewed on anything that she shouldn't. If you are a person who loves a weighted blanket then Treasure is your girl! She loves to lay on you when it's nap time. Your space is her favorite place. We are working on her counter surfing but she is easily redirected and though she would love it if you were to share your food with her she is respectful and doesn't beg much. Treasure would love to have a dog friend that would play with her more than our resident dog, but she is very respectful about our dog's space and doesn't force herself on our dog. Treasure can be a little bit mouthy at times but not rough. We are working on that and again she is very easy to redirect. She enjoys standing on her back legs and "dancing" with my boyfriend. Treasure has the sweetest pittie smile that will absolutely melt anyone's heart. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: .4luvofdog

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
