Dog Breed: Dachshund (short coat). Meet Trix! She is a 6-week-old Dachshund/Basset Hound mix puppy and one of Mama Teddi’s eight beautiful puppies that currently weigh between 2.5–4 lbs. Trix is on the bigger end of the spectrum and currently weighs around 3.5 lbs. She is loving and friendly and excited about all the new friends she meets, both human and dog! She is super smart and doing great learning the basics of potty training. We think she will be very easy to train thanks to her love of food and treats. Trix is beautiful inside and out and has a calm, assured energy. She is a perfect playful puppy who is destined to make one lucky family very lucky. She can’t wait to find a family of her very own who will give her the life she deserves and love her forever. Overview:
The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard. Temperamentally, Dachshunds are known for being courageous, curious, and often quite playful, with a surprising amount of energy. While they are intelligent, their independent nature can make training a delightful challenge. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them well-suited for apartment living, and they can be wonderful companions for families, though early socialization is key, especially with children and other pets.
