Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. My name is Canik, and I’m a handsome tan boy (my foster mom thinks I’m a Heeler mix!). I’m 4 months old and still learning about this big world. I’m a shy and timid little guy at first, but once I feel safe and comfortable, my personality really starts to shine. I love cuddles and being close to my people, and I’ll happily soak up all the affection once I warm up. I enjoy playing and I get along well with my foster siblings. I’m still a puppy, so I’m learning new things every day. I’m currently working on potty training, so I’ll need a family who has patience and time to keep helping me practice and learn. I’m a smart boy and I’m trying my best! If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle pup who just needs a little time to blossom, I'll be your perfect match. Apply at bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
