Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Lady is a 4 year old spayed female pit bull, white with black spots. She was a foster before being adopted last year. She is very sweet and loves being with her human. She will cuddle with you on the couch or lay near on her dog bed. She has a lot of energy and loves going on walks and exploring or riding in the car She likes her toys but goes for the squeakiest first. She rarely barks, but can be very vocal when feeling threatened by other dogs, sometimes in the waiting area at the vet’s office so she probably needs to be an only dog. She is afraid of storms and being shut in a room or a kennel for very long. She is trying medication for that. She has some separation anxiety also. Her current owner feels a family with older kids who can handle her energy and have more time to spend with her would be a better fit than she has now-or a person working from home with more time for her would be a better fit. She has a choke collar and electric collar from having 3 weeks of training when adopted last year. So she’s familiar with commands. **** Breed: american pit bull **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2194813&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
