Dice is a 2-year-old male mixed-breed dog with a sleek black coat and a sweet, playful personality. He weighs about 37 pounds, is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines (as of 1/21/2026). Dice was rescued from a neglectful situation and has made great progress in a loving home. He’s a friendly boy who may bark briefly when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and enjoys being part of the action. He handles well, has no issues with food or toys, does well being crated or contained and gets along well with the other dog in the home. Dice is good with children, but he is still an adolescent dog and can get overly excited when small children are running or playing nearby. For this reason, he would do best in a home with older children or with adults who can help guide and manage his youthful energy. Dice has never escaped or chased anyone and is overall a happy, eager companion who’s ready for his next chapter. Dice would thrive with someone who can continue his training, provide structure and enjoy an affectionate, energetic dog by their side. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
