Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). MEET ROSCO! My friends describe me as: Curious, playful and energetic! This handsome man came to us from a local animal control officer and due to that we know very little of his past history, but during his time with us has quickly shown us what a love he is! Rosco is still learning his basic manners and due to his size and energy we do recommend him going home to dog savvy kids. He loves to play outside no matter if it's snow, sun or rain. He will need to get out his usual puppy energy so a more active home would be a great fit for him! His biggest challenge is definitely his love for food (he can't get enough of it!), and can be a little hard mouthy when receiving treats or getting a little too excited during play. He will need a refresher on all the puppy basics. Come meet him in Brewster! Rosco is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY however, we are unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. For more information on Rosco or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston please visit us during our adoption center hours: Wednesdays-Sundays from 1:00PM â 6:00PM, Tuesdays by appointment only from 1:00PM â 6:00PM, closed Mondays & Holidays. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
