He came to us from a horrific hoarding situation involving over 33 dogs who were found emaciated and living in filth. Despite the neglect he suffered, Heathcliff has decided that humans are actually pretty wonderful. His Personality: Heathcliff is a "gentle observer." Because he was undersocialized in his past life, he is a bit timid when meeting new people or entering new environments. However, once he feels safe, his true colors shine! He is a total "sweetie" who absolutely loves to be petted. If you’re looking for a dog who wears his heart on his sleeve (and his tongue!), you’ve found him—Heathcliff is a world-class kisser who will thank you for every bit of kindness you show him. His Social Life: Dogs: Heathcliff feels right at home with other dogs! Having spent his life around many others, he finds comfort and confidence in the company of canine friends. Humans: He is looking for a patient adopter who understands that he might need a little time to "decompress" and learn how to be a pampered pet. Ideal Home: Heathcliff would thrive in a relatively calm environment where he can continue to build his confidence. A home with another friendly dog to show him the ropes would be a huge plus!
