Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Meet our tiny senior sweetheart This little female Chihuahua named Jasmine is about 10–12 years old and weighs just 8 lbs, but she has so much love to give to the right person. Right now she’s very scared and unsure of the world, so she will need a patient, gentle home that will allow her the time and space to slowly come out of her shell. She has been in her foster home for about a week and is already starting to trust them, showing just how sweet she truly is. Once she feels safe, her gentle personality really begins to shine. She loves cozy dog beds and super soft blankets, where she can curl up and feel secure. She is fairly potty trained and will pee while on a leash, though she’s still working on it. She will also use a potty pad inside when needed. She rides well in the car too — she may be a little anxious at first, but after a few minutes she usually curls up and falls asleep. This little girl doesn’t need much — just a quiet home, a warm blanket, and someone with a kind heart who will give her the time she needs to feel safe and loved. In return, you’ll gain the sweetest little companion who will be so grateful to finally have her forever person. If you’re the type of person who believes the best things in life are worth waiting for, she may be the perfect little match for you. Jasmine’s adoption fee is $300 Our hospital is open for adoption visitation Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 5:00pm and Saturday's from 8:00am to 11:00am. If you have any questions please feel free to call us at 919-266-8177 or email pets4adoptionbellsouth. All adoption fees are cash or check only, we do not accept credit cards for adoption fees. Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
