Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Riley is being rehomed through no fault of his own. The owners just got way in over their head with a working breed. Riley is just under a year old, between 75-80 lbs, and fully vetted. He is crate and potty trained. Riley is a very sweet goofball. He is VERY high energy, very smart, and needs someone with GSD or similar working breed experience. Riley does well with all adults. He has not been tested with small children or other dogs. He has a high prey drive and does not do well with small animals or small children. Riley needs someone with experience who will spend time with enrichment and consistently training him. **** Breed: German Shepherd **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2194618&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
