Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Currently located at our Evansville, IN location Meet Pepsi, a sweet brindle girl with a little white spot on her chest and an extra-large cuddler personality. She loves to play and run, but when it’s nap time, she’s happiest curled up right on your lap. Pepsi is still young, so potty training is a work in progress—but she’s doing well and already understands what “outside” means. She prefers cloth potty pads (paper pads are no match for her curious puppy teeth!). She has been very gentle and inquisitive with cats—happy to give them love, and respectful when they set boundaries. With other dogs and puppies, she’s been nothing but sweet. Pepsi doesn’t mind wearing a collar or leash, and while cold weather has limited leash training so far, she’s off to a great start. She enjoys car rides, loves looking out the window, and taking in all the scenery. Loud noises can still make her a bit jumpy, and when that happens, she’ll seek comfort by climbing into your lap—but she’s gaining confidence every day. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate puppy who will grow into a loyal companion, Pepsi may be your girl. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
