Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Do you know anyone looking to add a sweet pup to their family? When you hold Larkin, he just melts into you and soaks up the attention. I’m also very gentle, which makes me a great buddy for kids. Hi, I’m Larkin! I was found near the playground on the reservation, and I’ve been showing my foster family what a good boy I am ever since. My foster mom says the dogs from the reservation are the best because they appreciate everything! I love kids and other dogs, and like the cats too - I really just want to play with everyone. I’m doing great with potty training after only one week—I run right to the door when I need to go out—and I sleep quietly all night with my foster brother either in the living room or in my foster parents’ room. When we go for walks, I keep a close eye on my foster and stay right in the yard too, because I really love having a home and being part of a family. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving pup who just wants to be near his people, I might be your guy. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Application prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
