Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Meet Folsom! I’m a two-year-old low-rider hound mix with a Lab-sized heart and a deep commitment to couch life. If you sit down, I’m joining you. If you lay down, I’m climbing up — short legs and all. I’m affectionate, loyal, and very much a “my people” dog. Once I bond, I’m all in: following you around, sleeping in the kids’ beds, and greeting you every morning like you’ve been gone for years. I’m great with other dogs, good with kids I know, and I’m crate and potty trained. I enjoy walks but don’t need a fenced yard. I’m also confidently stubborn — if I decide not to move, I can transform into a 38-pound pancake. Because of that (and my tendency to be underfoot), I’m not ideal for elderly adopters. My first two years were spent isolated in an outdoor kennel, so I may need 48 hours to settle in with new people. I’m not a “brewery dog,” but once I feel safe, I bond deeply. I’m still learning what counts as a toy, so leaving clothes or slippers on the floor might tempt me. And because of my low-rider build, keeping me at a healthy weight is important. He is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, current with all vaccines (as appropriate for his age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Folsom is currently being fostered in South Carolina. ADOPT FOLSOM!! .LuckyPupRescueSC The adoption fee is $375.00 and we require a vet check and home visit.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
