Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE ANY CONVERSATION ABOUT ADOPTING FROM OUR ORGANIZATION. PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE AT .colliesheltierescue AND READ ABOUT THE BASIC REQUIRMENTS (GOOD PHONE INTERVIEW WITH OUR DIRECTOR, SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND A HOME VISIT. I KNOW THIS SOUNDS LIKE A LOT BUT WE SCREEN CAREFULLY FOR THE SAKE OF THE DOGS. THEY DESERVE IT! This little tiny puppy is Scooby. He is a 10-week-old Lab/ Dachshund mix (maybe), weighing in at 11#. He was given away at a farm and ranch supply store in Pueblo, Colorado. And he could have ended up in a bad place. But our volunteers are continually talking to people about watching out for critters that may be in trouble and how important it is to get them safe and find where they can go to be safely placed in loving homes. Little Scooby is one such pup. We refer to them as Little Interlopers. Scooby is in a foster home here in Pueblo West, Colorado. He gets along with full-sized Collies and a couple of old Border Collie mixes. He adores men, women and children. How he feels about cats is an unknown. But I would guess that a cat that accepts him would find a good friend in Scooby. All of Scooby's vet care will be completed by Rocky Mountain Collie and Sheltie Rescue including his full series of vaccines including Rabies. He is is already microchipped with a Home Again chip and his adoption will include a lifetime database registration. When he is old enough, he will be neutered with all the bells and whistles. We do require a minimum donation of $450 that helps to cover the medical expenses. But, for now, we will begin to look for the humans who will love Scooby for his entire life. He is a funny little character. He troops around at the heels of his foster mom and feels neglected if he does not have complete access to her. The other dogs in the family see him scoot under them and watch out for the little dude. He is a well-adjusted mixed breed pup. And he will love his forever family as long as they treat him like the little treasure that he is. Let's see what the universe has in store for Scooby!

Breed overview
Overview:
The Dachsador, a charming crossbreed of the Dachshund and Labrador Retriever, originated from the desire to blend the playful spirit of the Lab with the distinctive build of the Dachshund. Physically, they are incredibly diverse, often displaying the longer body of the Dachshund with the more robust head and sometimes webbed feet of the Labrador. Their coat can vary widely in color and texture, from short and smooth to longer and denser. Temperamentally, Dachsadors are generally friendly, intelligent, and affectionate, making them wonderful companions. They can be good with families, though early socialization is key, and their energy levels mean they thrive with regular exercise. While adaptable, their size can range from medium to large, influencing their suitability for apartment living; a home with a yard is often preferred. Potential health concerns can include those common to their parent breeds, such as back problems (Dachshund) and hip/elbow dysplasia or eye conditions (Labrador), necessitating responsible breeding and veterinary care.
