Description

Dog Breed: Silky Terrier / Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (long coat). Milo came from a horrible backyard breeder/puppy mill. We do not know for sure how old he is but we think he 5 yr or less. Milo is only 7lbs. Milo just wants a lap to sit on or next to and be petted. He will follow you around. Milo is getting neutered and his teeth cleaned this week and will be ready for adoption after that. He will make someone a great bosom buddy. He is not housetrained but will go outside with you to pee but also have accidents so right now if his foster cannot keep an eye on him he wears a belly band. With nice weather coming housetraining should come along quick with consistent training. Milo will give you sweet kisses and want to just be where people are. He is fine with other dogs and we believe he will be fine with cats. We think we will be fine with kids to but does not play with toys or anything like that. His coat will need some TLC to get in better shape, it looks fine but is a little lack luster. Proper food and care will make it shiny and have luster in no time. To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $350 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs. We do not ship dogs. All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.

Silky Terrier

A.K.A.: Sydney Silky, Silky, silky dog, Silky Aussie, Aussie Silky
Overview:

The Silky Terrier is a charming and spirited companion, originating in Australia in the late 19th century. Bred from the Yorkshire and Australian Terriers, they were developed to be versatile pets, suitable for both companionship and pest control. Physically, Silkys are small, elegant dogs, typically weighing between 8-10 pounds, distinguished by their long, flowing, steel-blue and tan coat that is remarkably soft to the touch – hence their name. Beneath this beautiful coat lies a sturdy and agile body. Temperamentally, they are known for being alert, confident, and intelligent, possessing a typical terrier zest for life. Despite their small size, they are quite active and enjoy playtime, but also relish curling up for a cuddle. Their adaptable nature makes them suitable for various living situations, including apartment living, provided they receive regular exercise and mental stimulation. They can be good with respectful children and other pets, though early socialization is key. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of breed-specific concerns such as patellar luxation and dental issues. With proper care and training, a Silky Terrier makes a delightful and devoted family member.
