Description
Dog Breed: Schnauzer / Mixed. Spot absolutely loves people and enjoys being around his humans as much as possible. He also does wonderfully with other dogs and would really enjoy having a dog friend or two in his new home to play and relax with. He has a calm and easygoing nature but still has a playful side that comes out when he is having fun with his friends. He walks nicely on leash, seems to be potty trained, and is food motivated which makes him eager to learn and easy to work with. Spot carries himself with a relaxed confidence and a sweet demeanor that makes him a joy to be around. With his scruffy coat, charming smile, and expressive face, Spot is the kind of dog who will turn heads wherever he goes. He has been looking for love in all the wrong places, but now he is ready to find a cozy and caring home where he can finally settle in for good. If you are looking for a lovable, gentle companion with a big heart and an even bigger personality, Spot is ready to meet you and become part of your family. Spot was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. He will be available to meet starting 3/14! Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
