Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. These incredible Cane Corso puppies are looking for committed, experienced homes after being born to a Corso mama in a shelter. Born on February 7, these stunning, intelligent, and loyal pups will be ready to begin foster-to-adopt placements at the end of March. Their beautiful mama is a black Cane Corso from champion bloodlines, and their dad is a handsome fawn Corso. Cane Corsos are powerful, devoted working dogs who thrive with confident and experienced owners who understand large guardian breeds. As they grow, these puppies will become strong, protective, and deeply loyal companions. They will do best with families who are ready to provide structure, training, socialization, and a lifelong commitment. Ideal homes will have prior experience with Cane Corsos or similar guardian breeds, a strong commitment to training and leadership, and a stable home environment prepared for a large-breed dog. Adopters should also have an understanding of the breed’s loyal and protective nature. We adopt throughout the East Coast, including NY, NJ, PA, CT, MA, NH, DE, MD, DC, VT, and ME. Approved adopters must be able to pick up their puppy in New York City. Exceptions may be considered for nearby states if adopters are able to travel to NYC for pickup. The first step in the process is submitting an adoption application, followed by a call with our adoptions team. All puppies will begin their vaccinations with Rescue City before heading to their foster-to-adopt homes.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
