Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Little Gianna—aka Little G—is a bundle of BIG energy and even bigger personality! When she first comes out of her kennel, Little G bursts onto the scene with excitement to spare. She can be a little jumpy and may try to use her mouth when she’s amped up, but don’t let that fool you—this girl is smart, eager, and ready to learn! With consistent training, structure, and plenty of activity, she’ll quickly pick up on good manners and shine. Underneath all that enthusiasm is a super affectionate pup who loves belly rubs, pets, and attention. She’s treat-motivated (hello, training opportunities!) and genuinely wants to connect with her people. Little G is currently living with two other dogs, and all that kennel time means her energy comes out in one big, joyful burst when she gets her freedom. She’ll do best in an active home that can keep her busy, engaged, and learning—think walks, playtime, and maybe even some fun training games. If you’re looking for a lively, loving pup who will keep you laughing and moving, Little G might just be your perfect match. Get ready for zoomies, snuggles, and a whole lot of fun! Little Gianna has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in her new home. She's also sharing her shelter suite with a friend she met at the shelter. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out her playgroup video here: To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
