Dog Breed: Rat Terrier / Dachshund / Mixed. Bear is a tiny, lovable companion with a big heart. At just about a year old and just under 20 pounds, this handsome little guy is incredibly people-focused and affectionate. He loves nothing more than curling up next to you on the couch—or better yet, right in your lap—and will happily follow you around like your shadow. Bear's foster says that he has picks up routines very quickly and that he is very smart! Bear came to PAW after his owner unexpectedly passed away, and he’s ready to start his next chapter with a loving family. He previously lived with other dogs and did great, so he’d likely enjoy a canine companion, but he’s just as happy soaking up all the attention on his own. He’s been a wonderful houseguest in foster care—house and crate trained, not much of a barker, and easygoing overall. On walks, Bear enjoys taking his time to sniff and explore, and he’s done well meeting other dogs on leash. At home, he loves playing with toys, scampering around the yard, and soaking up belly rubs. Bear would do best in a home with adults or children over 13 who can give him the love, companionship, and stability he’s used to. He’s a truly special little dog just waiting for a great home to call his own. PAW adopts to MD, DC, southern PA, and northern VA.
