Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Maggie is a 1yr old shepherd mix who weighs about 40 lbs. She gets along well with other dogs and would love to be in a home with another energetic buddy. She LOVES to run and play! Maggie would do well in a home with older, dog-savvy kids....she is still young and may accidentally knock a little one over when she’s playing. She uses the dog door at her foster-mom’s house and has done really well with house training. Maggie loves to be with you wherever you go and is always up for adventure. She loves walks and is learning to enjoy riding in the car as well. Maggie would love to do some basic training with you, she is very food motivated and eager to learn! This little girl is an amazing dog and will be the best buddy you could ever ask for! To meet Maggie, please complete an application at caws/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at caws/adoption-application

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
